Liberty Reborn

Over the Christmas holiday I spent some time thinking about ways that Americans could fight for their personal sovereignty and against the latest oppressive and unconstitutional plans of liberals in Washington D.C. to control our health care and insurance systems.

The phrase, “Under God” being the national motto of the United States really ticks off certain people. Mostly these are people who think that there is some prohibition on government recognizing that God played an important part in the founding of the nation and think that just by the government mentioning God, who is believed in by many different religions, actually establishes one particular religion against the prohibitions of the First Amendment.

The ACLU is hypocritical. It cannot stand any mention of God in the public square by any public employee, repeatedly claiming that such violates their distorted and unfounded view of the First Amendment. But at the same time they seek to essentially establish a state where God is not allowed to be freely acknowledged without coercion and make Atheism the official state religion in clear violation of the Law of the Land. The story of the ACLU versus the Huntington County Community School Corporation proves this point once again and how if one parent complains everything must stop.

It is no secret that there are a lot of so-called “Christians” that hate Mormons with every fiber of their being. This site has even been forced to lower the hammer on such rhetoric, pulling contributor status from Grant Swank because of his incoherent anti-Mormon ramblings. I don’t pull any punches when I say that I find articles of the Mormon Church, such as the secrecy of its founder over how he was inspired to form it and the story of how he did, more than a little too wacky to warrant serious consideration. But I have known enough Mormons to know one thing for certain – they are committed Christians.

Schools are quick to cave to the complaints of a single parent that is so weak in their own faith (even if that faith is atheism) that they think Christians should not be allowed to celebrate Christmas that it is insane. Some people simply don’t believe that our schools are run by such cowards, but it is true. Just look at the South Orange-Maplewood School District who has taken Christ out of Christmas for just this reason.

Are we now to assume that the anti-religious left is giving up its crusade against the promotion of religion on public property with public monies? I ask this question with all seriousness since it appears to be the case based on an astonishing lack of legal challenges to the addition of special foot washing stations at the Kansas City International Airport to allow Muslim cab drivers to clean themselves before praying.

It is fashionable these days to forget the truth and even downright ignore it when it cannot be forgotten. And what about when the truth cannot be ignored? Well, in that case we are far too accepting of any attempt to distort it.
