I was listening to Quinn & Rose this morning when someone, apparently too lazy to go to the Internet and search for the facts himself, challenged Quinn on the common knowledge that union contracts are often tied to the minimum wage. This is why unions so regularly support minimum wage increases. Quinn of course did not have hard facts to support this truth right at hand.
It does not take long to find out that this is indeed a truthful statement and union officials, like Clark Brown of the SEIU have freely admitted this. On February 24th, 2011 People’s World ran a story quoting Mr. Brown saying that when the minimum wage goes up, it “drives up our union contract wages.”
End of discussion.
