Newt Takes SC

Newt Gingrich rolled through the first sourthern primary.  He took the South Carolina GOP primary with 40% of the vote.  Mitt Romney finished second with 28%, Rick Santorum was third with 17% and Ron Paul finished last among the still active candidates wtith 13%.  The race was not even close.  By 8:00 PM last evening, despite many precints not reporting, the results were not even in doubt.

There have now been three primaries/caucuses with three different winners.

Conservatives appear to be picking Newt as the anti-Mitt.  Of course that is a dangerous gambit with Newt’s own shakey track-record and own set of myths he likes to tell, such as how the budget was balanced under his tenure as Speaker.  Newt is certainly to the right of Obama though and that makes him better to lead this country.  Not necessarily the leader America needs however.  Just remember that moving forward.
