On Safety Nets …

We hear a lot of people talk about how there must be government “safety nets” for those that fall through the cracks of society. Even some conservatives proclaim the need for such things, perhaps out of guilt at not wanting to seem cruel.

There should be no federal government funded safety nets for people. I would even balk at state funded safety nets.

The support system for the truly needy must come from family, friends and the church. Funding for such things should never be coerced or taken by threat of force or through taxation.

It is not the role of government to care for the people. When it attempts to do such we see the results. People turn away from God and their communities and instead become leaches upon society that command government to give them more and more. They become immoral animals who see others as obligated to feed, clothe and shelter them.

Eventually, under such a system, society eventually collapses.
