Who is President Obama trying to convince that be is a grown up? Himself or the rest of America?
Last night the President again went to the microphone to again try and put on a brave face. However his speech sounded like the same one we have heard time and again with regards to spending and the national debt.
He called repeatedly for balance when dealing with the situation, promoting class warfare, tax the rich rhetoric. Nothing new here. He once again pleaded to an end for tax breaks people like himself, he claims, do not want or need. But coming from a man who takes every tax break he can get each year when he files his taxes and who does not donate money to the treasury to help pay down the debt that whine rings hollow.
Five minutes into the speech he started repeating himself. He had run out of things to say. He blamed Republicans, misappropriated a quote from Ronald Reagan trying to make himself sound like a man that most Americans still admire. He danced the same old dance to the same old song like a stuck record on a turntable.
Oh, and he also lied about the surplus supposedly left to President Bush by Bill Clinton. That lie has been debunked so many times (I did so back in 2005) and can be seen to be a lie simply by visiting the Department of the Treasury’s Bureau of the Public debt that the President should be ashamed of himself.
This is a man, we must remember, who had not one single problem spending trillions more that the government had when his party had a strangle hold on the government. He took the careless deficit spending of the Bush Administration and put it on steroids. When he proposed a budget earlier this year he wanted to spend trillions in 2012 ($1.2 to $1.5 trillion more than we will have) and he wants people to believe that he is serious about taking on the debt?
President Obama called for compromise. What he really called for was for Americans to roll over, allow government to spend more of our grandchildren’s money, foot future generations the bill and give him, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi their way.
What will Obama do next? Stand at the microphone and hold his breath until he turns blue? As childish as that sounds, it would actually be more mature than what he has done to date.
Now THAT is sad.
