NRA-PFV Hits Me Up Again For Funds

This is becoming a weekly ritual.  I go out to my mailbox here in Pittsburgh, open the door and find a mailing from the NRA asking for money.  Considering their recent flirtation with Senator Harry Reid, preparing to endorse one of the biggest, and dumbest, liberals to ever sit in the Senate only to pull back that possibility after a grass roots uprising of its membership, I don’t know how far I trust the NRA.

They are, after all and by their own admission, just a single issue advocacy group.  They don’t care if the candidates they support pat them on the back with one hand, throw them some crumbs by either voting for some second amendment related issues favorably or giving them special exemptions from federal legislation while with the other hand they are signing away every other liberty we as Americans have.  Any group that claims that they don’t care where their endorsed candidates stand on all important issues including the Constitution, the whole Constitution and nothing but the Constitution is a potentially dangerous group.  They are dangerous because they simply don’t understand, or don’t care, that we as Americans cannot pick and choose which rights to defend.  We must defend them all.  They are all precious.

I think I will withhold any contributions for now.  The NRA has something to prove to me before I write them another check.  They have to prove to me that they are Americans and that they understand what is important.
