Shhh don’t speak the truth to liberals for they will wilt before it. I am still getting a lot of bizarre and, as is usual, wholly uneducated emails from liberals railing against Rand Paul and his comments regarding the Civil Rights Act. Based on these emails and the lies contained within them you would think that Rand Paul had said that slavery was a great thing and that people should be oppressed by government based on the color of their skin if it happens to be too dark.
Nothing could be further from the truth of course but as I have learned nothing, and I mean nothing, not even the truth, gets in the way of a story that supports any liberal narrative.
Here is the actual response to Rachel Maddow’s question reported by Good Morning America:
In an interview Wednesday with MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow, Paul was asked whether he believed private businesses should have the right to refuse service to African-Americans.
“Yes,” Paul said. “I’m not in favor of any discrimination of any form. … But I think what’s important about this debate is not written into any specific ‘gotcha’ on this, but asking the question: what about freedom of speech? Should we limit speech from people we find abhorrent? Should we limit racists from speaking?”
I see why liberals are upset. This sort of though process is far and above anything your typical liberal is capable of. Their response to anything that they dislike is to regulate it and then point a gun at you if you wont comply with their new law. This is of course why America is in the mess it is today. Everything is regulated and a lot of guns are getting pointed at people.
Racism is highly illogical. Those that abide by it tend to not be able to compete without some sort of arbitrary advantage and thus use such claims of racial superiority or inferiority to enhance their own status when it is not warranted.
My position is similar to Mr. Paul’s I think. Don’t tell the man running the lunch counter that he must serve a man of a certain skin color that he doesn’t like. Just do what I would do and don’t patronize the bigot’s business. If you do soon he will be out of business and maybe, just maybe, he learn how stupid his prejudices are. Either that or he will wallow in poverty for lack of customers.
The liberal’s solution is that you and I are far too inept to make such choices on our own and that there ought to be a law which they can wield with the might that they so crave to beat you over the head even though you don’t need to be beat over the head.
Which is better? I think if you believe in liberty the answer is obvious. And it once again shows a major difference between liberals and conservatives.
