Earlier I said in my opinion “‘Deem & Pass’ DOA?” that no Democrat wants to be the 216th vote that gets this monstrosity of a socialized health bill passed in the House.
And they do not want to squeak it through because it would be far too easy to portray every marginal Democratic Party Representative up for reelection as the “deciding vote” and drop the hammer on them in the court of public opinion which is solidly against this bill. The Democrats want to pass this with somewhere around 220+ but know they cannot.
Right now Drudge is reporting that Nancy Pelosi has been heard saying pretty much that this is true!
OVERHEARD: Walking into Capitol this morning on phone, Speaker Pelosi tells Hoyer: ‘Steny, we have to get to 217. None of these members wants to be the deciding vote’… Developing…
New correspondence with my sources tells me that while Nancy Pelosi has “technically” (as one put it) enough votes to pass the bill at 216, a lot of these 216 are (somewhere about 15 to 18) will jump ship if they think for one second that there are not at least two or three votes to spare so that they cannot be cast as the “deciding” vote.
This of course is typical triangulating by politicians because they do not understand what will happen come November if they vote for this bill. They think that they are safe as long as they are not vote #216. Wrong. No matter how many votes are cast for EVERY member of the House that votes for this will be targeted as a supporter of unconstitutional government.
Just a warning to you libs that you will not be safe no matter what games you think you will play!
