Progressives like President Obama are jokes. To a man and woman, those on the left think we are stupid. They will try to get their way piecemeal if they cannot do it whole hog. And in the process they think they are being generous.
President Obama is now claiming, after failing miserably to further socialize the American health care industry, bringing the same failures that have plagued Medicare and Medicaid for years to the rest of us, that he is willing to meet the Republicans half way. Oh, how generous of the messiah!
“Let’s put the best ideas on the table,” Obama told reporters after meeting with congressional leaders of both parties. “My hope is that we can find enough overlap that we can say, this is the right way to move forward, even if I don’t get every single thing that I want.”

“I’m willing to move off some of the preferences of my party, in order to meet them halfway, Obama said. “But there’s got to be some give from their side as well.”
Unfortunately, this is just a repackaging of his same old and empty promises made many times previously. He has always ignored the “best ideas” because they embrace liberty and the limited powers of the federal Constitution while embracing the absolute worst ideas because they entail the sort of top down government control that he desires.
He and the liberals in Congress have repeatedly lied claiming that Republicans have no plan. Yet there have been plans. However, again, they do not included as much government meddling as he wants. I am not saying that all the plans put forth by the Republicans are good ones when it comes to health care and some of them also require serious government overreaches of power. But the fact is that Mr. Obama, Ms. Pelosi and Mr. Reid all made concerted efforts to ignore these plans because they were not radical enough.
Calling for compromise however is yet another trick. Like I said in the open, Obama and the left are faced with the reality that they cannot get what they wanted so what they now want is as much of the unconstitutional government control that they previously wanted as they can get right now. Then they will come back for the rest later.
Here is the cold, hard reality. What President Obama wants is to appear reasonable. The problem is that he is not. He wants a complete top down socialist system with so many unconstitutional bureaucracies that it will destroy liberty. And he will not stop until he gets it. It does not matter to him if it gets it all at once or one step at a time.
You cannot compromise liberty with tyranny. When you do you still get tyranny. It may be a soft tyranny for the moment but as history shows once that slippery slope is stepped upon the slide down is swift. And that is just fine with President Obama and the progressives. It should not, however, be tolerated by Americans.
