In Need Of A Distraction Obama To Tackle BCS
Liberal moonbat Rep. Joe Barton has made a pathetic career of attacking the NCAA and the BCS and threatening to impose, unconstitutionally of course, restrictions on them because he doesn’t like the way they decide who the Division I College Football champion is. As I have said before, I am no fan of the BCS but that does not mean I want to see the federal government, any branch of it, over step its bounds of limited power and force them into doing something they don’t want to. No one’s rights are being infringed upon by the BCS system so the government should have no say.
Well, looks like Mr. Barton and other wackos who think that it is government’s role to meddle in businesses like this have a new ally. Yes, the messiah himself seems poised to come down from on high and the right hand of Pelosi Almighty to wade into the fray. He needs a distraction from his failure to do anything that is in the remotest sense rational and his constant bumbling and stumbling on Constitutional issues for a supposed Constitutional Scholar. All this has been gleaned from Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich:
In the letter to Sen. Orrin Hatch, obtained by The Associated Press, Assistant Attorney General Ronald Weich wrote that the Justice Department is reviewing Hatch’s request and other materials to determine whether to open an investigation into whether the BCS violates antitrust laws.
“Importantly, and in addition, the administration also is exploring other options that might be available to address concerns with the college football postseason,” Weich wrote, including asking the Federal Trade Commission to review the legality of the BCS under consumer protection laws.
Several lawmakers and many critics want the BCS to switch to a playoff system, rather than the ratings system it uses to determine the teams that play in the championship game.
“The administration shares your belief that the current lack of a college football national championship playoff with respect to the highest division of college football … raises important questions affecting millions of fans, colleges and universities, players and other interested parties,” Weich wrote.
Wow, Senator Orin Hatch at the center of government sticking its nose where it doesn’t belong? I wish I could say I was shocked! Then man is a fool among fools in Washington himself.
Well, it is good to know that all the other problems that America has from crushing deficits due to liberal social welfare spending to the insanely impossible to understand income tax code to burdensome taxes which are all paid for by the consumers as they are passed down from the top to the numerous laws which make criminals out of law abiding citizens not infringing on anyone’s rights have been solved!
I guess they still haven’t quite gotten the message yet. Onward to November!
