It is judgement day and I want to present my final thoughts on the Massachusetts Senate race between Coakley (D) and Brown (R) for the seat previously held by Senator Edward, where did I put my date?, Kennedy and currently held in the interim by someone that history will forget.
There are only two outcomes and I will look at both.
Coakley wins:
If Coakley wins Obama has the inside track on another socialized medicine program for America that if passed will fail like all others (Medicare, Medicaid, etc.). Martha Coakley will be a very bouncy rubber stamp for the liberal agenda more than willing to sign off on anything that makes leftists giggle with glee. As much as it is political incorrect to say so, the woman doesn’t have the brain power to think on her own. America suffers.
But if she doesn’t win by at least 10% it is a loss for Democrats and the liberals running that party because this is Massachusetts we are talking about here. Yeah, I know all the talk about how they elect, every now and again, a Republican state-wide but look at their current make-up! They are home to some of the furthest left members of Congress from John, did you know he served in Vietnam?, Kerry and Barney, hey is that pot? I had no idea!, Frank.
Yeah if they win, even by 0.1% the liberals will cheer and they might even be able to delude themselves for a while but reality will be coming around the corner with a full head of steam in another ten months.
Brown Wins:
If Mr. Brown wins, the Democrats are going to have to resort to a lot of nasty tricks to get Obamacare over to the White House for a signature. This is going to make November even more of a blood bath IF they resort to such tactics.
BUT if Brown does win and heads off to Washington, conservatives should celebrate but do so with reservations. Mr. Brown will have to prove himself as a reliable voice against increasing government and against unconstitutional government. He may do just that on many issues but he will not likely be a strong conservative willing to do the hard work to cut spending and put forth proposals that will cut the nuts off various programs currently in existence which exceed the power of Congress under our Constitution.
What he will be is, more than likely, the latest in a long line of Republicans to say they are conservative and even at times talk the talk and walk just enough of the walk to make liberty loving Americans hope for more. But when it comes to the hard choices, don’t expect him to make them.
If you win Mr. Brown, I challenge you to prove me wrong. Rhetoric is one thing. Actually doing is another. And I will judge you by what you do. That is, if you win.
