I am truly blessed. Living here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania I get to be represented by three of the biggest dunderheads in Congress. Benedict Arlen, can’t decide what he stands for, Specter and Bobby, vote for me because of my daddy while I don’t show up for work, Casey are my Senators. And to top it all off, my representative in the House is one of the biggest liberals out there – Rep. Mike Doyle.
Mike loves to send me mailers telling me about all the liberal things he is doing. The number of times I have seen him however cite a constitutional authority for anything he supports could be counted on the fingers and toes of a quadruple amputee. For people who graduated from the public shools that would be none. I regularly used to send him emails telling him how wrong he is and asking him to cite the Constitutional authority for his plans. He ignored me. So I pretty much stopped emailing him. Hey, no point talking to a stump right? I can get a better conversation from my dog apparently than from Mr. Doyle.
Well, Mike is still at it. Yep, I just got his latest little mailer and I’ll guess you can bet what is on the front page right? If you said reasons why he is supporting the Health Care bill in Congress and passed by the Democrats you would be absolutely correct. However, once again not surprisingly, Mr. Doyle fails once again to actually discuss anything of importance with regards to his authority on the issue. Instead he does what liberals always do and talk about other things to distract Americans away from the … well … fact that this plan he supports is unconstitutional and thus he is by default committing high crimes against our Constitution. Plus the fact that his scheme will fail is not something he really wants to address.
Yes, Mr. Doyle is full of the rhetoric talking about how, “Preventive care would be free for all,” and how insurance companies would see “greater competition,” and how there would be improved, “consumer choice to help keep costs under control.” He also throws out the canard that the bill will “pay for itself.”
Wow Mr. Doyle, you graduate with an A+ from Nancy Pelosi’s class on regurgitating talking points!
Unfortunately you fail miserablyin the most important course: REALITY 101. Heck, maybe you should just start with the basics and sign up for Realty 1. You know, the place where they teach two-year-olds that touching a hot stove burns your hand? I think things like, “This is the Constitution and its powers which it gives to Congress and what you want to do is not in there,” might be a little too advanced for you.
Let’s start from the top ok? How would preventive care be “free” when it is our tax dollars being used to pay for such plans? “Free” implies no cost. But there is clearly a cost as even you can easily see. No Mr. Doyle, no matter how much you smile in your cute little mug shot down in the lower right hand corner, taking tax dollars from the American working public and then using them to pay for services is certainly not “free.”
Then there is the “greater competition” and “keeping costs down” fallacy. So, let me get this straight Mr. Doyle, an entity like the U.S. Government that cannot even keep doctors happy and willing to accept current socialized medicine plans like Medicare and Medicaid is going to miraculously be able to create a NEW socialized medicine program that will make people want to join it? Hard to do that when there are fewer doctors and fewer choices in these plans isn’t it? Well, I guess you can keep costs down by setting reimbursement rates artificially low and well below market rates as well as rationing care right? Yeah, that has worked real well in the previously mentioned programs huh?
Then there is the “pays for itself” claim. Again I remind Americans who might actually believe this tall tale that we are running deficits as far as the eye can see. The government isn’t currently paying for itself and it has only gotten worse as liberal Democrats have gained more and more power in Washington. So tell me exactly how based on assumptions which were purposefully assumed to make the plan look as if it pays for itself that Americans should ignore the truth that government is so far in the red that it hurts not just our children but their children’s children too? What have you done that qualifies you to make such statements about how this plan will pay for itself when the government has proven wholly incapable of paying for itself up until now?
But of course Mr. Doyle these are questions that are far too tough for you to answer and facts too tough to deal with. Instead you will run out and find a friendly crowd that will applaud your plans and slap you on the back. Hey, that’s what you have always done isn’t it?
