Everyone that reads me on a regular basis knows that I support replacing the federal income tax with a national sales tax. I have even expressed more than lukewarm support for The FairTax which is, as a whole, a very good proposal but not without its flaws. The biggest flaw it has is that it is still a progressive tax that creates two levels of tax payers in America – those that pay taxes and those that do not pay taxes. Christmas time is supposed to be a time of peace on Earth and good will towards men. But there is no good will towards President Obama it seems with his Presidential Approval Index falling to another new low for the second day in a row. Rasmussen’s polling shows that not only has Obama’s rating fallen to a new low, but it is so low that it is hard to ignore as he pushing a miriad of unpopular programs from Socialized Medicine to Cap and Trade to bringing Gitmo Terrorist to civilian court and moving others to prisons within the United States. Ben Smith at Politico has an interesting tidbit in that according to a recent poll where respondents were given the choice of having George W. Bush as President or Obama in that roll, the current President is only favored by a slim 6% over the former president often vilified by the left as the “worst President ever.” Excluding FDR, Woodrow Wilson, Bill Clinton, Jimmy Carter, LBJ, George H.W.
