Senator Ben Nelson, the latest Democratic Party Whore to sell his vote on Obamacare, doesn’t have to stand for reelection until 2012. Perhaps he is hoping that the average attention span and memory of the Nebraska voter is about the same as a gold fish and that they will forget about his shenanigans in Congress. Hey, that strategy has worked for politicians for years so maybe he is right.
But, just for the sake of argument, let us say that the election for his Senate seat was today. How would he fare?
Well, according to the latest Rasmussen poll he would basically be tarred, feathered, strapped backwards to a horse blindfolded and sent off to fend for himself in the wilderness. Ok, so that was not an actual option. But you be the judge as to how far fetched that description is when you read that in a match up against Governor Dave Heineman, if the Governor runs, Nelson would loose 30% to 61%. Just 4% are undecided and just another 4% prefer some other candidate.
The good news for Senator Ben Nelson is that he doesn’t have to face Nebraska voters until 2012.
If Governor Dave Heineman challenges Nelson for the Senate job, a new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey shows the Republican would get 61% of the vote while Nelson would get just 30%. Nelson was reelected to a second Senate term in 2006 with 64% of the vote.
How the mighty have fallen.
When are Americans going to get their brains in gear and realize that this is the sort of crap they get when they elect liberal Democrats like Nelson who can be bought and sold at the will of the Party? Not saying that the liberals/moderates in the Republican Party are any better mind you. But at least that party has a lot of good, smart, and constitutionally literate people among its ranks. Try finding those sorts among the Democratic Party. It ain’t gonna happen very often. And when you do find one, how smart can they be if they are still voting for Democrats?
