Like every year, except one, I have no intention of going Christmas shopping on the day after Thanksgiving affectionately known as Black Friday. Two years ago I did go out because Boscov’s was having just too good of a deal on big screen televisions to pass up. Even though I never had done it before I decided to try it just once. Despite getting a great bargain on my television however I vowed that I would never do it again and decided that I was right in the past to avoid the day like the plague.
My wife is also banned from Christmas shopping on Black Friday after three years ago getting blind sided in her car by other driver who was too intent on finding a Tickle Me Elmo or some other meaningless toy for their kids at a discount to be paying attention.
Of course, I will however be venturing out today to get a couple needed things like diapers for Magnus, since the one sized fits all washable ones we normally use still do not hug his scrawny two month old legs well yet sending urine everywhere, as well as some 2 x 4’s to fix up some things around the house.
But that’s it. Other than that I am happily staying home and am thankful that I have a good job, money in the bank and two young children that will be happy with whatever Santa brings them.
To the rest of you that are out trying to save a few bucks and waiting in the cold? You’re nuts.
