Lou Dobbs, in a recent poll by Rasmussen, polled at upto 14% if he were to run for President. That would probably be enough to keep Obama in office for a second term as he stripped away enough conservatives tired of the wishy washy soft socialism of the Republican Party. With Obama not breaking 44% and at 42% in two matchups, it would be Bill Clinton all over again.

Do not get me wrong. If you do not think the Republican Party puts forth a conservative enough candidate and you find one more in line with the founding principles of America then as a conservative you should vote for that person. I did that in 2008 when I wrote in Allan Keyes. It is the only way the Republican Party will ever get the message.

Lots of conservatives rightfully have problems with the “front runners” for 2012. Mitt Romney for example is a case and point as his socialized medicine plan in Massachusetts continues to collapse. Of course Romney claims that he had no choice in the matter. Hogwash. He was the cheif executive of the state. He could have simply refused to impliment it and stood on principle. But he wanted something, anything, and didn’t care what and went along to get along.

The great draw of Lou Dobbs however has been his imminse loyalty, seemingly, to combating illegal immigration and giving those that have come to this nation absolutley no quarter. But is he really the tough, no nonsense anti-illegal immigration foe he pretends to be? Apparently not as WorldNetDaily Reports:

Twice during the interview, Dobbs mentioned plans to legalize millions of illegal aliens in America, saying “we need the ability to legalize illegal immigrants under certain conditions.”

“What isn’t working is a penalty to those who are in this country illegally for whom we can both be building a bridge to the future in which there is legalization and at the same time constructing an environmentin which everyone is clear and unequivocal about the need for border security and a regulated flow of immigration,” Dobbs told Telemundo.

Now, reading that you might think it is being taken out of context because it is pretty vague. But never fear, for Lou Dobbs sent out his spokesman to clarify!

Dobbs’ spokesman Bob Dilenschneider told the Wall Street Journal the former broadcaster draws a distinction between illegal aliens who have committed crimes since arriving in the U.S. and those who are “living upright, positive and constructive lives” who should be “integrated” into society. He said Dobbs recognizes the political importance of Hispanics and is “smoothing the water and clearing the air.”

Hey Lou! The moment the illegal alien crossed the boarder illegally they committed a crime! Here that giant sucking sound? That’s your approval numbers sinking faster that those of Barack Obama.
