Wow! Conservatives in the GOP are growing a spine it looks like and drawing a line in the sand. It also looks like Moonbats on the left and RINOs within the party are panicking big time! I have a sneaking suspicion this all has something to do with Scozzafava, the liberal crank and RINO who received the party’s nomination in NY-23 only to run with her tail between her legs to endorse the also liberal Democrat Party Candidate Bill Owens once it was clear the voters in the party were rejecting her in droves.
The point of what is being dubbed a “purity test” currently being floated is to keep candidates that do not plan to uphold basic tenants of the party platform from receiving funding and endorsements from the party. Parish the thought right? Yeah, I know. But it is enough to make the RINOs run around and scream and they are getting support from the far left (mostly Democrats) who are just so appalled at such a notion! Why, how dare the party not give money to candidates that don’t want to actually be part of the party?
It’s about as silly an objection as saying that when I buy a Hyundai and decide not to buy a GM that I should still give some money to GM too. Or like mandating that because I donate to candidate X, who I like, that I must also give money to candidate Y, who I think is dumber than a door nail. You know, just to be nice.
Hogwash. When ACORN, or whatever they want to be called these days, starts giving money to conservatives instead of only supporting liberal cranks for office that promote socialism and quit their own “purity test” get back to me. Oh … sorry … the truth hurts huh libs? So spare me your faux outrage.
Of course the RINOs are panicked. They are going to be faced with a hard choice IF such a thing every become law within the Republican Party. They are either going to have to raise all their own cash and willingly forgo party money, throw in the towel and give up being idiots on the public stage if they cannot or suck it up and join the Democrats who they are more in line with ideologically anyway. Just like Arlen Specter did.
Here is the offensive “test” of which candidates must agree to 8 of 10 points:
(1) We support smaller government, smaller national debt, lower deficits and lower taxes by opposing bills like Obma’s “stimulus” bill;
(2) We support market-based health care reform and oppose Obama-style government run healthcare;
(3) We support market-based energy reforms by opposing cap and trade legislation;
(4) We support workers’ right to secret ballot by opposing card check;
(5) We support legal immigration and assimilation into American society by opposing amnesty for illegal immigrants;
(6) We support victory in Iraq and Afghanistan by supporting military-recommended troop surges;
(7) We support containment of Iran and North Korea, particularly effective action to eliminate their nuclear weapons threat;
(8) We support retention of the Defense of Marriage Act;
(9) We support protecting the lives of vulnerable persons by opposing health care rationing, denial of health care and government funding of abortion; and
(10) We support the right to keep and bear arms by opposing government restrictions on gun ownership
Hmm … let’s see. Ok #1 is support for the Constitutional limits of government … nothing offensive about that unless you are a big government, anti-American liberal. #2 Free markets … again not offensive unless you are some flavor of socialist. #3 Ditto. #4 Being against coercion and for privacy … only a hideous concept to fascist liberals who think they should be able to threaten and crack skulls to get their way. #5 Again, support for the Constitution and keeping illegal aliens out of the country … well, you have to be a lefty loon to not support that. #6 Support for our troops and a desire to defeat obvious evil … gee, liberals again are the only ones that hate this concept (along with so-called libertarians who really are not) except when they are supporting the war they now oppose. #7 Uh, keeping tyrants bottled up and unable to harass other peoples of the globe … is there something really wrong with that.
Now, #8 … this I actually have a problem with because it requires a support for the federal government to do something that is not found anywhere in the powers it is granted under Constitution nor the necessary and proper powers of Article I, Section 8. It is not a very “conservative” idea and normally you would think liberals would love violating the Constitution. But not here and I strongly urge the so-called “conservatives” who added this to the test to reconsider it.
My opinion? Replace it with a clear denunciation of Abortion (aka child murder) and a statement of unwavering support for the protection of life as the Constitution demands. Hey, if you want to do this, let’s do it right I say.
#9 Opposition to government health care and the obvious problems that arise under it as witnessed by every such program currently in existence? Once again, something only the various flavors of socialists who think that this time they can get it right could object to.
#10 GASP! Support for the second amendment? Now droll in the minds of liberals who don’t give a damn about the actual rights of human beings in favor of those that they make up along the way!
Very little here to object to if you are an American who believes in America, liberty and our Constitution. Except for #8 of course. Oh, I am sure that we will hear all sorts of whining from liberals who think that there is something so horribly wrong with this proposal yet have their own such standards all over the place for who they support and give money to.
Hey, their messiah is fading fast and they need a distraction.
And I am sure the RINOs will continue to mope about too especially if it ever comes to pass. Good. Time to pull up the weeds.
