Talking about the folly that is Hugo Chavez is always good for some comic relief. He is the little tyrant that is worried about actually being to the right of President Obama and encapsulates everything that the left believes; centralized power (but only in their hands – in anyone else’s it would be bad) and forced suppression of anyone that dares even breathe the word liberty. Yes, our “good friend” Hugo is at it again in Venezuela this time calling those protesting him “rebels” and traitors that will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the wall. To contrast this, a few years back when his hooligans were out and about, protesting, rioting, breaking things, you know – typical lefty stuff, such acts were never condemned in such a manner by the so-called President of Venezuela.
The dramatic move by Attorney General Luisa Ortega capped a week of huge street protests, mostly directed against a new education law that critics say is politically charged.
“People who disturb order and the peace to create instability of institutions, to destabilize the government, or attack the democratic system, we are going to charge and try them,” Ortega said in a statement, referring to the government of leftist-populist Chavez.
William Ojeda, of the opposition A New Time party, argued that “the very right to protest is being turned into a crime.”
Take note because there has never been a leftist from Hitler to Mao to Stalin to Mussolini to Castro to Chavez that has not acted with a heavy hand against those that dissent from them once they have ascended to power and seized control of the government. But it is a two step process. Simply ascending to power does not automatically mean the other if there is a fervent opposition. Which thankfully we in the United States do have even if it requires the help of the slightly left of center Blue Dog Democrats not quite as committed to liberal insanity as their brothers and sisters and to keep the dam from breaking.
Chavez is like all leftists a coward unable to actually rule so command the populace by force instead. He is also once again showing the difference between the political left and the political “right” (which is actually the political center) in that for the left protest and overthrow of the government is ok if it means they ascend to power and get to suppress the rights of the people. Those that stand against them and seek liberty and that stand against them are evil and traitors. Whereas for the political right it is just the opposite and rightfully so.
Beware America for we are at the gates to Hell.
