The Democrats needed violence from the right. And they thought they might have found it after the Colorado Democratic Party Headquarters was vandalized. Windows were smashed and the attack looked to Democrats like the work of the “mob” and all those right wing “terrorists” they have heard so much about. Here’s a tidbit for you. 49% of Americans say, according to a Rasmussen poll, that workers should be able to opt out of Social Security. And by “opt out” they mean not pay into it and not receive benefits. While 49% might not seem like enough to help make such a sane policy a reality, consider that a majority of voters under 50 agree while not even a majority of voters over 50 disagree. Every now and again you get someone who tells us Americans how wonderful the Canadian system of health care, which includes notoriously long waiting lists and denials of treatment, is. On the other hand the facts speak rather loudly exactly to the extent at which the socialized Canadian system is flawed. And you know things are bad when you have the new president of the Canadian Medical Association calling the system, “sick” and in need of a “cure.”
