Big Shocker, Those Without Insurance Think Obamacare A Wonderful Idea

You will rarely find greater support for some socialist government welfare program than among those that you are promising something to as a result of the program. A recent NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll about Obamacare demonstrates this point very well.

Americans who have private health insurance disapprove of Obama’s job on health care by a 51-38 percent margin. Those who lack insurance, however, approve of his job, 52-29 percent.

Well big surprise there! Most people won’t turn away a handout! Screw the constitutionality of the handout though and don’t ever question it or point it out to them.

Of course this poll also points out that people have some misconceptions about the current rules regarding health care. One of those myths is that people with pre-existing conditions are often kept from getting insurance. This is false but anyway:

lso, when read the specifics of his goals for health care — like requiring insurers to cover those with pre-existing conditions, providing low-income families with subsidies to help them afford insurance, and raising taxes on the wealthy to pay for the subsidies — 56 percent say they support Obama’s plan. Only 38 percent oppose.

The fact of the matter is that often times health insurance companies do have exclusion periods for people that have pre-existing conditions. There is a reason for this. They don’t want people going along for years and not paying for insurance only to run to the doctor when they get sick, get diagnosed with something that requires a lot of expensive treatments and care and then go insurance shopping, pay premiums for a couple months and then drop the coverage after they have received tens of thousands of dollars in benefits while paying maybe only a couple thousand dollars at most into the system. One can obviously see how without exclusion periods the system would go bankrupt as no one would carry insurance until they got sick.

While the rules vary from state to state, many states have very strict rules about what insurance companies can and cannot do with regards to pre-existing conditions. And even for people with pre-existing conditions who cannot get coverage Hospitals and pharmaceutical companies give away millions of dollars in free care every year. So there is no excuse to not get treated. But as long as liberals can lie about the pre-existing condition
