Now this is funny. While government is busy trying to convince us that they are competent enough to run our health care system and provide health insurance to Americans, we keep turning up story after story showing how they screw up even the little things on a regular basis. The latest is an admission from the federal government that they have erased the original tapes of the moonlanding from July 20, 1969!
NASA admitted in 2006 that no one could find the original video recordings of the July 20, 1969, landing.
Since then, Richard Nafzger, an engineer at NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Centre in Maryland, who oversaw television processing at the ground-tracking sites during the Apollo 11 mission, has been looking for them.
The good news is he found where they went. The bad news is they were part of a batch of 200,000 tapes that were degaussed
– magnetically erased — and re-used to save money.
Yes, it took him three years to find this out. No one knew? I can see it now … “I’m sorry Mr. Johnson, but we cannot seem to find your medical records and you are being denied coverage …” Three years later, after Mr. Johnson dies from cancer he will be informed that his records had been accidentally erased but the “good news” will be that the government has released in new and digitally enhanced form!
You would have thought that SOMEONE would have said, “stop!” and preserved these historic documents! But then again you would have more faith in government than I.
