Here Come The Tax Increases!

California is a basket case. The whole place is totally dysfunctional to the point where if it were an actual person it would have been committed to a nut farm. Now, in order to balance the books which are awash in a sea of red ink due to asinine promises everyone with a brain knew would not be able to be kept the state has turned to raising taxes. First up? Say goodbye to part of your child tax credit!

California parents beware: Those little tax deductions running around the house are now worth less (in a strictly financial sense, of course).

To help balance its budget, California has reduced the state tax credit for dependents.

The change will increase a family’s California taxes for 2009 by about $210 per dependent compared with 2008.

A family with one dependent that normally gets a state-tax refund will get back $210 less when they file their 2009 return next year. A family that normally owes money will have to pay $210 more. Multiply that by two or more dependents, and it really adds up.

Let me be clear, these child tax credits be they state or federal have always been a joke. They give parents pennies on the dollar compared to the real cost of raising kids – something that would be very easy to do if the government would get off our backs and start letting us live our lives instead of taxing us to death. So to reduce them is just another knife in the back to families.

But this is always how liberals act when it comes to raising revenues to fund their failed, bloated governments. All the while continuing to forget that people, if they are fed up enough, will just leave and take up residence in another, more taxpayer friendly state. It all comes back to their pathologically insane concept that they know better how to spend our money.

Here’s a better idea. Instead of raising taxes, keep cutting spending. I know that this would mean basically gutting every social welfare program you liberals hold dear and restricting government to basically building and maintaining roads, keeping the courts operating, operating police and fire departments, etc. but that is really all government is supposed to do.

You would be surprised how quickly you would be back in the black if you would just follow this simple, one step plan.
