Liberty Reborn

It is not easy getting through to someone enthralled by the mere presence of Barack Obama and believing him to be Christ reborn come to save us. We have been seeing how these people react for months now. Usually we have been just content to mock them and hurt their oh so precious feelings. But when they go really over the line with their Obama worship and we decide to make our voices heard, they do actually listen.

My, my, my so many emails and all with the same request that I start referring to Pennsylvania Senator Arlen Specter as “Benedict Arlen” following his bolt from the GOP yesterday and deciding to return to his liberal roots. It would be a great suggestion but there is only one problem. See, I actually have been referring to Snarlin’ Arlen as “Benedict Arlen” for years already.

Geez! Stop sending me emails asking when I will have “Benedict Arlen” bumper stickers available will ya? There are already some available at both our cafepress store:

Conservatives are ecstatic today with the news from Sen. Arlen Specter that he has decided to jump the GOP ship in time for the 2010 midterm elections and run instead as a Democrat in Pennsylvania. Liberal Democrats are jumping for joy too but for different reasons.

Prior to the election of Barack Obama as president there really didn’t seem to be a lot of Obama supporters putting pride in their candidate and slapping bumper stickers on their vehicles. All that changed as I discussed in my posting “Obamaton Come Latlies?” where I reported on a distinct up tick in vehicles sporting pro-Obama stickers in December around the Pittsburgh area:

Here we go again. Another day, another poll from Rasmussen showing that there is no reasonable way a man spouting calls for growing the size of government like Barack Obama did during the campaign could get elected. This poll show that 60% of Americans believe that the federal government has too much money and power.

The left gets really irked by us continually pointing out how many view Barack Obama as the Messiah come to save liberalism and fulfill their childhood fantasies. Boy do they ever get irked! Because it distracts from their vacuous arguments about conservatives. It is really hard to go out there and repeat the lies about the Iraq War being an unconstitutional war (despite Congress approving it), Conservatives as equivalent to NAZIs (even though NAZIs were socialists), that we are racist because we don’t like Obama’s policies (even though we tend to really like Justice Clarence Thomas and people like Thomas Sowell and Walter E. Williams) and so on when they are distracted by actually having to combat the truth with actual evidence to back them up.

What I am about to discuss is exactly the sort of thing I mean when I say liberals are not intellectually honest with themselves. Here is an interesting Gallup Poll (reported by Rasmussen) in which 70% “believe that big business and big government generally work together against the interests of investors and consumers.” In addition to that number, 71% of Democrats actually agree!

Before I go on an cite the following Rasmussen Report poll saying that 58% of Americans are against politically attacking the former administration over whether or not waterboarding is “torture” (note that Pelosi, et al had no problem when they were indeed informed of the procedure), I want to correct Mr. Rasmussen on one point. President Obama is indeed in favor of probing the issue of prosecuting those involved with making terrorists feel uncomfortable.
