Jindal Says Whoa! Nagin Says GIMMIE GIMMIE GIMMIE!

With our Democrat controlled Congress and White House working their tails off to spend our children’s money by giving handouts to as many people as possible, some people are wisely questioning whether they should take the money. Of course the truth of the matter is that the number of Constitutional expenditures in the current “Stimulus” Bill can probably be counted on the fingers of two hands and everyone should be questioning each of them vigorously. But, as always, too many people don’t give flying rip about the Constitution and will dip their hands in the cookie jar.

Some people however are at least feigning wariness and threatening to turn away federal funds and all the strings that are attached. I say this because I’ll believe that they will turn down the money when I see it. People like Bobby Jindal in Louisiana are people I am watching very closely:

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, a potential 2012 GOP presidential candidate, has suggested his state may not be interested in all of the roughly $4 billion allotted to it in the economic stimulus package to be signed by President Obama today.

“We’ll have to review each program, each new dollar to make sure that we understand what are the conditions, what are the strings and see whether it’s beneficial for Louisiana to use those dollars,” Jindal said, according to CBS affiliate WWLTV.

Jindal is scheduled to give the response to the president’s not-exactly-a-state-of-the-union address next Tuesday.

Louisiana reportedly faces a possible $2 billion budget shortfall next year. It has been allocated $538,575,876 for infrastructure spending in the stimulus package, and the White House predicts the bill will create 50,000 jobs in the state.

And while Jindal is at least paying lip service to people who think the Constitution still matters, you have the typical far left wingers like Mayor “Chocolate City” Nagin of New Orleans jumping at getting his grubby little paws on any money Jindal might refuse.

As WWLTV notes, New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin has said he’ll take any money that Louisiana turns down.

Yes, let’s give Mayor Nagin our children’s money! He did such a good job getting people out of New Orleans during Katrina after all! Remember all those school buses sitting idle under his watch?

The truth is Mayor Nagin doesn’t care. He just wants the money to buy himself some more votes come election time. The Constitution be damned!
