You may not hear it very often, as the aura around the so-called stimulus package passed by Congress last week has been carefully created, but there are people out there telling the truth about what it means. The fact is that this “stimulus” bill is a liberal’s pork laden wet dream. And although President Obama promised time for the American public to review bills, the Congress itself promised time to review bills (which was not given) and Obama promised not to sign pork riddled bills, the fact is that this bill is nothing but pork. Which is exactly the reason why it is trying to be rushed through.
But, there are some that will defy the Messiah and his disciples in Congress and tell the truth:
WASHINGTON “” The compromise economic stimulus plan agreed to by negotiators from the House of Representatives and the Senate is short on incentives to get consumers spending again and long on social goals that won’t stimulate economic activity, according to a range of respected economists.
“I think (doing) nothing would have been better,” said Ed Yardeni, an investment analyst who’s usually an optimist, in an interview with McClatchy. He argued that the plan fails to provide the right incentives to spur spending.
“It’s unfocused. That is my problem. It is a lot of money for a lot of nickel-and- dime programs. I would have rather had a lot of money for (promoting purchase of) housing and autos . . . . Most of this plan is really, I think, aimed at stabilizing the situation and helping people get through the recession, rather than getting us out of the recession. They are actually providing less short-term stimulus by cutting back, from what I understand, some of the tax credits.”
No, no, no … don’t you understand? Only running the printing presses, throwing money at rail lines from California to Las Vegas and making money available to ACORN (which they WILL apply for and get out of the pool of money made available for them despite cries from the liberals that they are are not actually named by name in the bill) will save us!
Meanwhile the “tax cuts” amount to a pittance. Previously, as I pointed out, that $400 is about a 0.33% cut for myself personally. It is a sham. But the politicians are hoping that $400 seems like a big enough number to make you think you really did get a true tax cut.
The stimulus bill had to be rushed through before the economy started to recover naturally so that liberals can claim that their pork barrel spending was the reason for the recovery. That is why so many promises by Congress and the President were broken during these last few weeks.
