From the file of things that are just weird, a town on Sunday “lost” water. No, seriously, they have no idea where it went!

Gov. Ted Kulongoski of Oregon is proving a truism about government – they hate it when people find ways around their tax schemes. For years states have relied on gasoline taxes hidden in the price of the final product to pay for all sorts of things that the politicians in them want to accomplish. Usually it is for roads and transportation but the funds often have a habit of being siphoned off for other tasks as well.

Whenever someone tells me that true poverty is rampant in America I have to laugh. Sure, there are a handful of people in America that are destitute but baring some major mental defect they can make a better life for themselves. I laugh though because true poverty is what you see when you visit the remote tribes of Africa, not America’s poorest areas.

First it was James Frey’s fabricated memoir, “A Million Little Pieces,” a book which Oprah promoted with her book club only to later on find out that the “non-fiction” best seller had great swaths of fabrication woven in to it. Now, Oprah has been duped again with the revelation that Herman Rosenblat’s, “Angel at the Fence: The True Story of a Love that Survived,” is a lie:

It is not that hard to understand. Only the most insane of criminals pick on someone they suspect is armed, perhaps better armed than them, and prepared for the attack. Why? Because criminals don’t want to die. What they want is to take something and get away. Weapons in the hands of their potential victims make them think twice.

Despite previous claims that a slow economy would prompt Barack Obama to rethink his madness of letting the Bush Tax Cuts expire and raising taxes, readers of American Conservative Daily did not believe him. And just this past Sunday, David Axlerod confirmed that Obama has no such plans of being reasonable:

It is no secret that there are a lot of so-called “Christians” that hate Mormons with every fiber of their being. This site has even been forced to lower the hammer on such rhetoric, pulling contributor status from Grant Swank because of his incoherent anti-Mormon ramblings. I don’t pull any punches when I say that I find articles of the Mormon Church, such as the secrecy of its founder over how he was inspired to form it and the story of how he did, more than a little too wacky to warrant serious consideration. But I have known enough Mormons to know one thing for certain – they are committed Christians.

The question has been raised but outside of people actually taking notice and that care about America it has been getting little coverage. That question is does Barack Obama really want to be President or is he just more interested in playing President? Sure, Obama like every other liberal is long on rhetoric and short on useful solutions, but since just before election day the man has seemed far more content to be President without actually being President.

Is it possible that Barack Obama doesn’t even own the home in which he lived? If so, then why? Did Obama not make enough money to pay the mortgage on his plush, Chicago home? Or is he having someone else pay the bill while greedily stashing his own money away (something he, his wife and his spiritual mentor, Rev. Wright all appeared to be against)?

Schools are quick to cave to the complaints of a single parent that is so weak in their own faith (even if that faith is atheism) that they think Christians should not be allowed to celebrate Christmas that it is insane. Some people simply don’t believe that our schools are run by such cowards, but it is true. Just look at the South Orange-Maplewood School District who has taken Christ out of Christmas for just this reason.
