The Childish Russian Bear Throws Another Tantrum
Russia is throwing another tantrum over a missile shield in eastern Europe. Not only are they throwing a tantrum, but now they are now more openly threatening military action!
MOSCOW (AP) - Russian President Dmitry Medvedev is warning his country may respond to a U.S. missile shield in Europe through military means.
Medvedev says that the deployment of an anti-missile system close to Russian borders “will of course create additional tensions.”
“We will have to react somehow, to react, of course, in a military way,” Medvedev was quoted as saying Tuesday by the RIA-Novosti news agency.
Russian officials have already warned of a military response to the U.S. plans, but the statement by the Russian leader was likely to further aggravate already tense relations with the West. The comments come after Medvedev recognized two Georgian regions as independent nations, prompting criticism from the U.S. and Europe.
Russia wants to attack its former Soviet satellites and reclaim them for their own so they will leverage the placement of a defensive missile shield as an excuse if they can. The question is will the United States stand up to them or will they let them run over places like Ukraine and Poland like we let them run over Georgia?
The response to this sort of threat is simple. “You want some? Come get some!”
Russia would be foolish to attempt an attack that would draw them into a war with the United States. You think it was unimpressive when we quickly gained air superiority in Iraq? Wait until we do the same thing over a so-called “super power” like Russia and start bombing their tanks from 40,000+ feet at will.
Of course Russia will claim this cannot happen. But the truth is that just like during the Cold War, the Russians are years behind the United States in military technology and it will cost them dearly if they poke the Eagle with a stick too many times.
