Standoff – U.S. And Russian Ships Each Drop Anchor In Georgia

Russia continues to throw its temper tantrum like the spoiled child the Russians are. Still bruised about how many of their former comrades no longer wanted to be oppressed under the compassion of communism they are looking to reassert themselves in the world and among their former comrades in particular.

They are still plodding around Georgia on sovereign soil. And now there appears to be a standoff of sorts between the US Navy (which would decimate Russia’s navy I would put my life savings on it) and Russia’s Navy.

BATUMI, Georgia (AP) - A U.S. military ship loaded with aid docked at a southern Georgian port Wednesday, and Russia sent three missile boats to another Georgian port as the standoff escalated over a nation devastated by war with Russia.

Georgia’s government said its short war with Russia had caused $1 billion in damages, while European leaders called the Kremlin’s moves in two breakaway Georgian regions an unacceptable attempt to unilaterally redraw the map of the Caucasus region.

The dockings came a day after Russian President Dmitry Medvedev recognized the Georgian territories of South Ossetia and Abkhazia as independent states, which Georgia answered Wednesday by recalling all but two diplomats from its embassy in Moscow.

The news about what is still going on in Georgia is not getting much airplay for one simple reason. Military conflict and experience in dealing with them favors one candiate in particular and it is not the one the media prefers - the Messiah, Barack Obama. As long as there are tensions seen around the world those tension help John McCain.

Russia is still trying to pathetically portray their actions in Georgia as similar to those by the United States in Iraq. But those comparisons fall way short considering the US and the international community (including the United Nations) kept a decade long paper trail of Saddam’s actual abuses. Russia has a lot of claims but little to back them up beyond lofty rhetoric worthy of a particular Democratic Party presidential candidate.

Keep poking the Eagle with a stick you big dumb bear. This time you might not get so lucky as to loose a “cold” war this time and get your ass kicked in a very “hot” war.
