Frustrated Race Isn’t An Issue, Obama Injects Race As Issue
The only people, it seems, concerned about Barack Obama’s race are a few scattered racists and other liberals who want to remind people that he is, indeed black. Frustrated that race is not that big of a deal, especially among people that dissent with him, Barack Obama decided to claim that race really is the issue and that it is important.
Nobody thinks that Bush and McCain have a real answer to the challenges we face. So what they’re going to try to do is make you scared of me,” Obama said. “You know, `he’s not patriotic enough, he’s got a funny name,’ you know, `he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.’”
“Doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills?” How many problems are there with that statement, huh? Especially considering that there is only one president on the dollar bill (George Washington) and Barack Obama is not even president yet (so saying “other presidents” is a bit presumptuous is it not?
One doesn’t have to wonder too much as to what Obama meant. He meant that lie about his opposition, which is really attacking him on issues, and say that they are trying to scare people by reminding them that he is “black”. I say so what if you’re “black”! Is that supposed to scare me?
Because it doesn’t. If I were frightened of people because of their skin color I would have moved from my current neighborhood years ago! Besides there are plenty of “black” people I like such as Clarence Thomas, Condoleezza Rice and Walter E. Williams just to name a few. The difference between you and them is not some pigmentation difference but an ideology difference.
Realizing that Barack Obama stepped in it with this statement, his campaign had an excuse ready claiming he was not referring to race:
Obama spokesman Robert Gibbs said Thursday that the senator was not referring to race.
“What Barack Obama was talking about was that he didn’t get here after spending decades in Washington,” Gibbs said. “There is nothing more to this than the fact that he was describing that he was new to the political scene. He was referring to the fact that he didn’t come into the race with the history of others. It is not about race.”
Ok, here’s Obama’s statement one more time: “he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.” Here is the excuse: “There is nothing more to this than the fact that he was describing that he was new to the political scene. He was referring to the fact that he didn’t come into the race with the history of others. It is not about race.” Once again here is Obama’s statement: “he doesn’t look like all those other presidents on the dollar bills.”
So now we are to believe that “look” is a synonym with “political experience”? This fall check out the complete, unabridged Barack Obama dictionary – complete with special definitions of the word “is” by Bill Clinton himself.
