LA Times Reigning In Reports On Breck Girl’s Trist?
The LA Times, which has had no qualms about publishing rumors in the past has apparently decided that reports by the National Enquirer of John Edwards (known affectionately by Rush Limbaugh as the Breck Girl) having an extramarital affair on his cancer riddled wife is not to be discussed.
Mickey Kaus over at Slate has published a reported email from the LA Times to its staff:

Hey bloggers,
There has been a little buzz surrounding John Edwards and his alleged affair. Because the only source has been the National Enquirer we have decided not to cover the rumors or salacious speculations. So I am asking you all not to blog about this topic until further notified. If you have any questions or are ever in need of story ideas that would best fit your blog, please don’t hesitate to ask
Keep rockin,
Tony
The question is, if the Enquirer is correct will the LA Times cover it then?
Remember this the next time you see unsubstantiated claims and rumors in the LA Times and be sure to remind them of this policy!
The sad thing is that the National Enquirer has more credibility than most MSM newspapers … not that I’m saying John Edwards is just another politician cheating on his wife, only that that is the story. I’m sure we’ll find out once we find the blue dress.
