Attacks On McCain’s Service Grow

I have very little tolerance for anyone that attacks members of our military and veterans of our military that do not deserve to be attacked. Now, if they are people like John Kerry or John Murtha who slander our soldiers or people like Matthis Chiroux who duck out on their commitments AND slander our soldiers have at them! They have earned our contempt.

But John Aravosis of Americablog.com is a down right idiot:

“A lot of people don’t know … that McCain made a propaganda video for the enemy while he was in captivity,” wrote Americablog.com’s John Aravosis. “Putting that bit of disloyalty aside, what exactly is McCain’s military experience that prepares him for being commander in chief?”

“Getting shot down, tortured and then doing propaganda for the enemy is not command experience,” Aravosis wrote in the blog post, titled “Honestly, besides being tortured, what did McCain do to excel in the military?”

I really don’t now how to respond to that other than to be absolutely disgusted. I am by far not a McCain supporter and have said publicly I will never vote for him in November, but this borders on obscene and is typical of those on the left. Oh, they will circle the wagons around John Kerry, but John McCain earns their contempt because he has an “R” next to his name.

Note, I am not saying that Mr. Aravosis was a Kerry supporter because I do not care enough about his idiocy to find out where he stood in the past. I am making a general observation about leftists.

McCain’s camp responded sharply to the Americablog posting Sunday night.
“The American people know that John McCain’s record of service and sacrifice is not a matter of debate. He has written about and discussed his service as a POW extensively — often in excruciating and painful detail,” said McCain spokesman Brian Rogers. “The American people will judge harshly anyone who demeans or attacks that service.”

McCain has written repeatedly of his service, including a long 1973 magazine article and in his memoir, “Faith of My Fathers.” A Navy aviator from a military family, he was shot down on his 23rd sortie over Vietnam on Oct. 26, 1967. His mission was to bomb a power plant in the North Vietnamese capital. Already suffering from broken limbs, he was beaten by a crowd before being taken to a POW camp. After being tortured there, he participated in some Vietnamese propaganda efforts.

“I had learned what we all learned over there: Every man has his breaking point. I had reached mine,” he later wrote.

There is a world of difference between a man breaking under torture that would have had Mr. Aravosis screaming for his mommy in less than 30 seconds and a man like John McCain breaking after prolonged and continuous torture. There is a difference (A BIG ONE) between Hanoi Jane Fonda rushing over to have a photo-op with the North Koreans and John McCain wallowing in a bamboo prison after being shot down trying to stop the advancement of communism across Asia and making a propaganda video after being tortured.

Crap like this makes me almost want to vote for McCain just to ensure that these leftists will have to endure another four years of headaches and stress over what has happened to America and why we are not a socialist paradise yet … wait … I said almost … I “almost” want to vote for McCain. I will not however and will be true to my word.

But this has nothing to do with whether or not I think he is worth voting for. This has to do with defending a man who served this nation honorably and did not turn on it for political expedience after returning from Vietnam and is being shamelessly attacked by the typical leftist types.
