Durbin, Other Liberals, Continue To Lie About Gas Prices
Liberals want you to believe that it is the oil companies that are gouging you at the pump. Their 8-11 cents on the dollar profit margin is small compared to other industries and considering all the regulations they have to deal with to bring you a product you demand. Then of course there are all the speculators driving up the cost and having to deal with tin horned despots all around the world who are important for no other reason than they sit on deposits of Black Gold.
Well, I have mentioned that it really is the government that is gouging, and not the oil companies, in the past but I still get accused of being on the payroll of Big Oil. I really wish my check would get here soon since it is way past due apparently …
But the numbers are undeniable:
CHICAGO (CBS) ― Tired of seeing the price at the pump jump every time you need to buy gasoline? Well, the record-high price of gasoline in the Chicago area is linked to a record-high rate of taxation: nearly 20 percent of the Chicago price.
As CBS 2 Political Editor Mike Flannery reports, tax refugees wait in long lines on Indianapolis Boulevard in Northwest Indiana. They jockey for position at a pump, lured by prices that are 20 cents a gallon or more cheaper than just a few blocks away back in Illinois.
“It was $4.20. I can come over here and get it for $3.93,” said Tikvah Wadley, one of the many fleeing Illinois taxes.
Illinois Sen. Dick Durbin complained to oil company bosses at a hearing on Capitol Hill about Chicago having the highest gasoline prices in the United States. Largely ignored was the role taxes are playing — an astounding 10 levels of taxation.
“Does it trouble any of you when you see what you’re doing to us?” Durbin asked.
Oh CRAP! The facts! Quick! Ignore the facts … Durbin wants you dumb and obedient.
Government takes 20%? And what exactly did they do to earn more than the companies that fought tooth and nail to bring you the gasoline? Sooner or later Americans have got to wake up or many of us will be on the way out of town watching as those of you left sit in the dark as the lights go off one by one – for good.
