Grab Your Wallets! Here Come the Liberals!

Here comes Rep. Dingle again. He wants to increase the federal tax on gasoline from $0.18 to $0.50 a gallon and increase the cost of your fill up about $4.50. Why? Because there be too much of that evil consumption stuff going on!  And as we all know consumption drives the economy and the economy must be made to suffer so liberals can convince you that captalism and liberty doesn’t work.

Of course we know better.  We know that it is their policies (socialism) that lead to the perpetual pain and suffering of those living under it.  But Rep. Dingle still thinks he can slip this one by you.

A Michigan congressman wants to put a 50-cent tax on every gallon of gasoline to try to cut back on Americans’ consumption.

Polls show that a majority of Americans support policies that would reduce greenhouse gases. But when it comes to paying for it, it’s a different story.

Rep. John Dingell, D-Mich., wants to help cut consumption with a gas tax but some don’t agree with the idea, according to a new poll by the National Center for Public Policy Research.

The poll, scheduled to be released on Thursday, shows 48 percent don’t support paying even a penny more, 28 percent would pay up to 50 cents more, 10 percent would pay more than 50 cents and 8 percent would pay more than a dollar.

Oh, I’m sure that those of you, like me, that have a 50 mile round trip commute to work and back each day will love this idea! As if government doesn’t have enough money. They are proposing what? A 3 TRILLION dollar budget?

Oil is the engine of our economy. And despite even government subsidies paid for by higher taxes on workers and consumers there are still very, very few “alternative” energy sources, electric cars and other products that bureaucrats are pushing us towards.

Why? Because people don’t want them. That’s why.  But Dingle(berry) here will force you. He knows best after all. And you’ll pay for all his grand plans.

I’m sure that if implemented, there will be some sort of “tax credit” for the poor (i.e. not you) to help offset this cost. Because those of limited means certainly aren’t going to like this idea nor are they going to be eager to support it without being assured it will only effect the vile “rich” - you know, the people that sign their paychecks.
