The “Generic Ballot” question has always bothered me. If you don’t know what a “generic ballot” poll is, it is where people are asked basically which party they will tend to support in the election without a candidate’s name attached. This allows everyone to feel really good about their party of choice and envision their perfect candidate and thus support their party free of any thought or even guilt.
